Wait It's How Much?!... Really?

(came across this on the internet...obviously I know it's not drifting.. it's a front wheel drive Pontiac so it's not even doing real donuts... but they areeee burning rubber... and it doesss look cool.. so I figured I'd post it.)
With the drift season rapidly approaching (FINALLY) it is important to get your finances in check. For the first time drifter who is wondering how much they are going to have to put out, and whether or not they can afford it... HERE is the average costs associated with DRIFTING

Tires (TIRES WITH LESS THAN 3/32 TREAD DEPTH or SIDEWALL DAMAGE WON’T PASS)
$100-$250 per tire

Large Capacity Radiator
$250-$450

Performance Alignment(which will last about the first 40-50 seconds of your day)
$100-$250

Mechanical LSD
Starting at $750

Entry Fee
Around $40

Snell SA95 Helmet
Starting at $200

Hydraulic E-brake(just preference)
$300

(based of DSPORT’s April 2010 Issue, adjusted some prices, the ones in the article were slightly off)

The End Of An Era? Not Quite...

I said in a previous post that the import/tuner car market made it out of the recession unmarked… I was wrong. Turbo Magazine and Sport Compact Car magazines were cancelled due to falling readership and advertising revenue… THAT I knew, what I didn’t know is that it is projected that Import Tuner and MODIFIED will be cancelled within six months. It is sad to see this happening to the magazines covering our passion… WHAT THIS MEANS IS now we have to support the surviving titles, which happen to be my two favorites, Super Street and DSPORT
DSPORT actually had a “GREEN SUCKS” theme in their last issue and it seemed to be a huge success… HOPEFULLY now the car companies are LISTENING (just to clarify they are not encouraging wasting precious resources, polluting, etc., they are just saying that there are other ways to practice environmental friendliness BESIDES taking the HEART and SOUL of car lovers WORLD-WIDE, the INTERNAL-COMBUSTION engine, out of the EQUATION.

If I Had $1000 to Blow... I'd Probably Buy One of These..

So when I'm NOT drifting....
I CAN DRIFT... ahhhhhhh.. that would be the life...

Honda Stepping Back Into Tuning?

Honda, as many people know, has turned their back on the tuning crowd recently.  However, a new ad campaign (Everybody Knows Somebody who Loves a Honda) came out and a couple of them featured tuning cars...  This commercial may be the most tuner friendly civic ad ever!!!! This is a signal that tuning is still economically alive, which is in all of our best interests... unless you enjoy drifting Toyota Priuses and FCX Claritys (Honda)

MATT POWERS.. Sponsored?!

Matt Powers is sponsored.  I am just as shocked as everyone else.  I am very happy for him, but still very, very shocked.  He is probably my favorite drifter BECAUSE for the longest time he was busting ass with no sponsor... going up again Tanner Foust, Rhys Millen, etc with unlimited money for their cars.. and proving that Drifting involves skill.  Matt Powers is like Nate Robinson in the dunk contest.. an automatic fan favorite.
Matt is known, I'm not really on a first basis with him (I actually never met him/talked to him in anyway), I just feel like he's one of those people your on an auto first name basis with.. ANYWAYS.. Matt Powers was known as a Free Spirit in the drifting world for a while now.  He is a great drifter, has great driving skills (came in 4th at Irwindale to end last season), and has dedicated fans..me and my boys included.. HOWEVER until now, he was missing a sponsor.  NITTO just changed that.  Matt Powers announced today that Nitto will be sponsoring his s14 this 2010 seasonCongratulations Matt Powers.

(2009 when Matt was VERY unsponsored lol)
