WHATS IN THE WORKS FOR TRI-STATE DRIFT IN THE COMING WEEKS

Keep checking back within the next few weeks for a couple EXCITING(ooohh..ahhhhhhh) new things on the site.... ONE!.. a BIG A** schedule.. this way you can keep on top of all official and some unofficial drift events in the tri-state including Club Loose AND Formula D(even though that's a one time thing) also even though it isn't drifting... I'm going to have import car shows because we're all one big happy family..so I will post the major import car shows (not every test and tune lol just the major things)... TWO!.. there will be an "Events Coverage" page with pictures and videos(way more pictures than videos FOR NOW) from all the local events... and THREE!.. and my favorite.. a "Drift 101" page which will be a compilation of information any amature drifter can use... this will be constantly updated everytime I see something worth posting.. and don't worry I'm not posting any personal tips or tricks(those of you who read this read about how I just replaced my entire passenger side suspension due to some sand and a "learning curb"(get it..learning curb/curve.. I guess you had to be there... jk.)

Better Late Than Never... Tanner Foust Mulholland Drift

I just got back from vacation.. and although I managed to get some posts up.. It's nearly impossible to post a video using my Bold on AT&T... all those commercials about where people get 3G coverage.. I really hope there are no postcards from Florida because sh*tty EDGE was all I got!
So.... even though tri-state tuner forums BEAT ME to posting it... (I saw it the a week ago(before them!! lol)).. I literally saw it the day I got to Florida.. it was torture not being able to post it BUT like I said.. better late than NEVER... Here it is...Tanner Foust "street drifting" (controlled environment)

__________S U P P O R T TRI-STATE DRIFT ____________

OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE BEEN PUSHING THIS BLOG EVERYWHERE I POSSIBLY CAN.  I AM TRYING TO MAKE THIS THE GOTO SITE FOR TRI-STATE DRIFT EVENT INFORMATION.  WHY??? BECAUSE I WAS DRIFTING (Clutchkicking/Doing Figure 8's) BEFORE I EVEN KNEW IT WAS A SPORT..  THAT WAS YEARS AGO. NOW I'M TRYING TO MAKE DRIFTING HERE AS BIG AS IT IS ON THE WEST COAST... SAY WHAT YOU WANT BUT THE FACT IS, WE JUST AREN'T THERE YET.  SO FOR THE SITES THAT ERASED MY POSTS DUE TO SELF-PROMOTION (horrible... more concerned with site visits than the actual growth of the sport), I (somewhat)UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR COMING FROM BUT THIS IS MORE THAN A SITE... IT'S A SOURCE.. A SOURCE OF DRIFT INFO FOR THE TRI-STATE (all on one site).  PLEASE SUPPORT TRI-STATE DRIFT... THIS SITE IS FOR THE LOVE OF
THE
 SPORT...

I'm constantly reading
drift information online
and magazines.. I know
there are better sites..
Drifting.com,
WreckedMagazine.com, DSPORT's Dragsport.com, Super Street's Superstreetonline.com.. but this site is UNIQUE... there will be amateur coverage of every NY/NJ/PA sanctioned drift and Englishtown Street Wars event here... I'm not one of the people making a "blog" just to have a way for people to hear me talk.. this is me doing my part in making the sport I love grow and my ultimate GOAL is to get DRIFTING in the X-GAMES (I dream big)

When people come over my house, and my parents are explaining to them why my car is in the backyard on jackstands, and they say "oh, he drifts" and that person doesn't respond with "Ohhh... my kids loved the Fast and the Furious.."  I'll be satisfied.

Michael Essa 2010 Formula D Build (M5 transplant)

Love at first sight...LOOK AT THE RIMSSSSS!!!!!!!

NATURAL BEAUTY.

THE 335i IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT STOCK BUT "FACTORY(it's from THE Honda Commercial)."  WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS FORMULA D DRIVER MICHAEL ESSA'S 335i DRIFT BUILD FEATURING A V10 BMW M5 ENGINE...  2010 will have a GTR, 335i, and a 2010 CAMARO... I'm speechless.. anyways I would write more on this but Essa(ers) have commented on other sites about how they robbed this from him and they should just link to his site... if this car wasn't so hot I'd say their beat.. BUT.. this is on track to being one of the sickest Formula D cars this year so to read more on the build click here.

It's Really Not Worth It..

As a follow-up to yesterday's post... drifting in the street is far more expensive than the track.  Some expenses you can expect to pay drifting on the street...

Tickets
Starting at $400(including court fees) easily going to $1000's if you factor in how f*ck'd your finances get if you get your license suspended and can't drive to work

Complete Rear Suspension Assembly(I did this four months ago thanks to a curb and some sand)
Starting at $600(was $1000 for me.. I lost 1/8th of my passenger side rim... so add a rim to the math)

Your Life
P r i c e l e s s

Someone Else's Life
Even worse.

(Hogan Know's Best....Nick Hogan's crashed car where he killed his best friend.. not worth it!)

The tracks are open... there are no excuses.. AT LEAST KEEP IT TO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT... you might say noone does that over here but I've seen/I KNOW kids that do it around corners.  KEEP IT ON THE TRACK (IN AN EMPTY LOT.)  STAY SAFE.  DRIFT RESPONSIBLY.

Wait It's How Much?!... Really?

(came across this on the internet...obviously I know it's not drifting.. it's a front wheel drive Pontiac so it's not even doing real donuts... but they areeee burning rubber... and it doesss look cool.. so I figured I'd post it.)
With the drift season rapidly approaching (FINALLY) it is important to get your finances in check. For the first time drifter who is wondering how much they are going to have to put out, and whether or not they can afford it... HERE is the average costs associated with DRIFTING

Tires (TIRES WITH LESS THAN 3/32 TREAD DEPTH or SIDEWALL DAMAGE WON’T PASS)
$100-$250 per tire

Large Capacity Radiator
$250-$450

Performance Alignment(which will last about the first 40-50 seconds of your day)
$100-$250

Snell SA95 Helmet

Hydraulic E-brake(just preference)

(based of DSPORT’s April 2010 Issue, adjusted some prices, the ones in the article were slightly off)

The End Of An Era? Not Quite...

I said in a previous post that the import/tuner car market made it out of the recession unmarked… I was wrong. Turbo Magazine and Sport Compact Car magazines were cancelled due to falling readership and advertising revenue… THAT I knew, what I didn’t know is that it is projected that Import Tuner and MODIFIED will be cancelled within six months. It is sad to see this happening to the magazines covering our passion… WHAT THIS MEANS IS now we have to support the surviving titles, which happen to be my two favorites, Super Street and DSPORT
DSPORT actually had a “GREEN SUCKS” theme in their last issue and it seemed to be a huge success… HOPEFULLY now the car companies are LISTENING (just to clarify they are not encouraging wasting precious resources, polluting, etc., they are just saying that there are other ways to practice environmental friendliness BESIDES taking the HEART and SOUL of car lovers WORLD-WIDE, the INTERNAL-COMBUSTION engine, out of the EQUATION.
